It's Graduation time!

I spent last weekend in Kansas celebrating the high school graduation of my nephew and the college graduation of my niece.  It was a busy weekend full of laughter, tears, gifts, lots of driving and of course some handmade cards.  I thought I would share the cards I made with you.

For my nephew's high school graduation - school colors are gold and black:
I used the Large Numbers Framelits for the numbers. The stamped stars are from the Perpetual Birthday calendar stamp set - it's a great one to use for backgrounds. An embossed background and a few star sequins finished it off. He seemed pleased with it and didn't mind the glitter paper.

The next 2 were for my nieces.  They both graduated the same day about 120 miles away from each other. Unfortunately I couldn't make it in time for either of their graduations. I cheated and made the same card for them, just changing the colors to match their school colors:

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set for the background.  The swoosh under 'graduation' is from the Perpetual Birthday calendar set - I told you it was versatile!  The 'graduation' is from the Crazy About You stamp set. It has so many great words in it.  The 'happy' was cut using the Hello You Thinlets. You can get both of these as a bundle right now for $54.25 a savings of over $10.   Both these items are available in the new catalog but not as a bundle.

I'm gearing up for some Project Life classes so next time I'll share some of that with you.

Who's the apple of your eye?

This is Apple of My Eye from the Occasions catalog. Look at all these cute fruit and sayings you get for $21.00.  It comes in Photopolymer so you can see exactly where you're stamping.

Here are a couple cards I made with this set:
I tried a new technique with this one. I inked the pear
in Pear Pizzazz and then took a sponge dauber
inked in Wild Wasabi and inked the edge of the
stamp before stamping. The splatters and other
paper are Wisteria Wonder. I think I need
more practice with this technique!

This card uses Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango,
So Saffron and Daffodil Delight. The Baker's
Twine is Calypso Coral (thick) and Crushed
Curry. It's hard to see in the photo, but I splattered
Gold Wink of Stella all over. Love the Wink
of Stella!  So easy to add a little glitter to
everything!

Both of these cards were inspired by cards I found on Pinterest.  This is a great tool for inspiration!  Just type in the name of the stamp set and you will see tons of great ideas.  This stamp set will only be available for a few more weeks. Grab it today before it's gone!

Retiring - By the Tide

There are so many great stamp sets retiring from the catalog. This means there will be room for some wonderful new sets! I'll be showing some of those later in the month. But right now it's time to highlight another retiring set - By the Tide.

If you look this set up on Pinterest, you will see a bunch of masculine cards. I don't know about you but I'm always looking for ideas for masculine cards. Most of the guys in my life would not appreciate getting a butterfly card - my favorite!  So I sat down yesterday to duplicate a couple of the ones I saw online:
Bermuda Bay Calypso Coral and Real Red Inks
Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake inks

But then I wanted to see if I could create something more feminine.  This is what I came up with. It uses Pink Pirouette and Calypso Coral with a little Crumb Cake thrown in.

That's all for today.  I'm off to learn about Project Life!  I have a bunch of photos from On Stage in Salt Lake City that I hope to get organized!  I'll share more about that in a later post.

Keep stamping!
